    I use "spiffy" fairly regularly.

    "Can I have...."
    May I have....

    Can I get is fine.

Though the correct answer is usually "no, it's my job to get it for you".
Is that right though, surely when they give it to you you've got it?

You can go get something or you get given something?

Either way you're getting what you want.

I have been enjoying the sitcom Alma's Not Normal and in it Alma uses the word actress. Gendered words like that are disappearing a bit, stuck out to me in a recent programme (if it was the character getting it wrong it wasn't mentioned).

I also never hear twocing  used anymore (my spell check didn't like it so it might not be in any dictionary). It was all the rage in the 1990s.

In theory they mean slightly different things (season means year, for some reason, in American television so you could have two or more series of a show within a season) although I agree they are used interchangeably with seasons gaining ground.

I received an email the other day that referred to decision-making as 'Decisioning' . Make of that what you will, me I'd make a bonfire and place the author of that email upon it.

Some words I would like to see go out of fashion:

”draw”, when preceded by “top” or “parts”
    ”sort” when followed by “after”
    ”of” when preceded by “should”

The word “skill”, used in a multitude of applications in the 70’s

eg: “Skill, my sister just slipped on some white dogshit!”
When I was a teen & saw pretty girls I’d say skill on it

We used to go 'laken' (spellings probably wrong) as kids when I was growing up in't noorf , or 'gardenappen' or something like that. Laken was going out to play, gardenappen was running through peoples back gardens by jumping over their fences and seeing how far we could get.

'snow' is a word we seldom use these days cos we dont seem to fucking get any anymore.

My first girlfriend and her friends used to refer to hot guys as 'dishy.' Anthony Andrews was dishy, as I remember, as was Gareth Hunt and Ian Ogilvy.

For us guys, hot girls and women were 'fit,' and we dreamed of taking them home for 'a bit of how's your father'!
