I tend to use most of these out of fashion words as part of my day to day vocabulary.
Not using them reduces our language to an increasing dull and restricted toolkit.

I'd be pleased to consign 'Ultimate' to this literary room 101...
Fine on it's own, but not applied to every fucking iteration of every phone, computer, car, band, cosmetic, etc. etc...

Funnily enough, I've seen quite a few of them being used on here.

I do enjoy using modern words and terms my son tells me.

How do you feel about applying it to pens?

Mmmmm... tough call, but unless they never make another improvement, development or change, then they're damned too.
    Cruel to be kind.

I figured it'd be OK if they only made one more after the pen-ultimate.

Consonant clusters seem an endangered species, at least here in the US. People have started saying 'contrack' instead of the standard 'contract' with the 'c' and the 't' together. The 'c' + 't' + 's' on words like 'impacts' and 'acts' have become 'impax' and 'ax,' respectively.

Another pronunciation feature under threat here in the US is the medial 't' when it has a vowel on either side. Instead of the standard British 'better' or the standard US 'bedder,' many people are now using the glottal stop and dropping the medial consonant altogether: 'be 'er,' 'wa 'er' (for 'water'), etc.

In my experience, people seem to be fine with thousands of years of linguistic evolution… as long as it stops as soon as they hit middle age or so.   ;)
