Wow. I just got to the end of this thread.

I realise that the age old maxim of "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is" should apply here, but the key word is probably. Sometimes we get offered deals that really are that good, and we can pass them on to you guys.

    In fact, here's another one.

The Jackson Limited Edition JS23 Dinky Archtop in Satin Grey was £214, and is now only £99. It's not quite as much off as yesterday's ridiculous deals, but it's a rather decent superstrat, and perfect if you want to get into modding etc.

Let us know if the natural version drops to £99 ;)
It's only £10 more...and you'll get free delivery with that!
I think the Naturals are going to be staying at £109, but for me, it's worth the extra tenner for a pretty nice looking piece of wood!

Initial thoughts are that it's really good. In fact, ridiculously good for the money.
Not plugged it in yet but had a little go on it and seems to play nicely.
The neck is unfinished which I'm very happy about as I don;t get on with those necks that are the same finish as the body.

Not sure if I'm gonna get on with the floyd. I like to keep my wrist very close to the strings and on floyds I always find the fine tuners interfere with my hand placement.

Thanks very much GAK for an amazing deal and efficient, trouble free delivery.

EDIT: Didn't receive the free gift thing, but really not bothered about that.

Mine arrived and its exactly what they described.

Nice little guitar and the neck is very nice.

Will set it up and plug it in shortly.

    EDIT

and thankfully no abalone binding on body or neck!

    So it looks very stealth!

Just found me stash of 24volt EMG batteries as well. So time to give it some more headroom.

Just tweaked my Floyd one. Lowered the action and its ready to roll.

I cannot believe how well its holding its tuning straight from the factory.

  • @stonevibe ;

Does the 24volt make a lot of difference?

Forgive my ignorance. This is the first guitar i've owned with active pups in it

    Yeah it does.

Get on Google and you'll see they have more clarity with 24 volts. There is a guy on Ebay in the UK that makes them and most people I know that use EMG active pickups will use his batteries.

Basically it gives you a bit more 'headroom' on the transients, so they sound clearer. The difference is great on clean and overdriven sounds as they perform better. Allegedly the EMG actives were designed to take a range of voltages and they seem to prefer the 24 volt batteries to regular 9 volts from my experiences. I've had three sets of active EMG pickups now and I discovered this 'mod' about three years ago.

They are smaller than a regular 9 volt battery, so fit in the space with ease.
