It's not like a need a new guitar. By any rational measure, I am long past the point of needing a new guitar.
But, I have a new guitar.
In best tFB tradition, I met a dodgy bloke in a car park late last week, car boots were opened, goods (and cash) were exchanged, and we went our happy separate ways.
In my boot for the return journey was a guitar. Let's play a game ...
- It's in a branded Hiscox case
- It's beautifully made with top quality materials
- The top is a piece of wow on its own scale, one that would make Mr P Smith jealous
- This is not my first one of this brand, I had 4 at one point, but was down to 1 before this acquisition
- Sadly, I can be a lot happier with it than the original owner would ever have been able to be
Guess away.
I'll do some pics when the sun realises that it's spring now, and it's time to make an appearance.

From the clues, a Kawai? Although I don’t get the bit about making you happier than the previous owner.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is an NSG?
…I’m only a little bit dodgy… I think?
There is no 'H' in Aych, you know that don't you? ~ Wife
Turns out there is an H in Haych! ~ Sporky
Bit of trading feedback here.
I met a little bit dodgy bloke in a car park ...
Shame on you! I've certainly got more than one of those (though I'm a little uncertain as to exactly how many). Plus they never really used any fancy tops on guitars - fairly plain maple is about as fancy as they got.
To those of you who guessed Eggle - that makes sense from the clues (I do have one of those), but is wrong.
But quite a few correct guessers, so 50p to @Sporky
According to the spec sheet, Mahogany neck (looks 3 piece with a centre strip of something else) with Cocobolo fretboard. Mahogany body with that figured Redwood top, which is just incredible.
3x BKP P90s, the middle one being reverse wound / reverse polarity, and is selected via a push/pull on one of the pots.
Finished by Sims in "Tiger Eye".
It's not a weighty beast, sits nicely and plays beautifully.
There's a long and sad backstory to this; the original owner went through some difficulties (I believe that's something of an understatement) during the spec/build/delivery/fix process to the extent that it represented a lot of negative emotion for him. Fortunately for me, I can assess it purely as a guitar, and it really does play beautifully.
It took a slightly elongated route to me (via that little bit dodgy bloke and a car park ), but after a couple of days with it, I can confirm that it was worth the wait.
I've had a few NSGs over the years, but had relinquished them all apart from my original one - very unflattering photo below;
