My son-in-law had two black cats named Nelson and Winnie.

All of my pets get named after Simpsons characters (I wanted one black cat and one white cat to call them Lenny and Carl, the gold fish were called Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph)

Away from The Simpsons - the best pair of pet names I've heard is Flotsam and Jetsam

Not really. Just a fairly straightforward description of their respective purrsonalities. 

Snifter was sociable, curious, always investigating things. Scratch was grumpy, antisocial and as likely as not to greet strangers with a hiss and a swipe of the claws.
