Well done. I have to say that I really rate Thomann service. Didn't cost me anything to return it. Dare say I've lost a few quid in the process but nothing significant. Did you get a discount? I didn't even open the box!
That's why I was waiting to pounce on it as from what you said I knew it was new and unopened.

I did get a discount to £440 + I had 40€ of Thomann vouchers so it's working out well.

So last night I did a gig with the BGA1. I had a pedal switching clean/dirty and switches on the amp for the three dirty channels. All was going well until I stepped on switch 3 for the Modern channel and the sound dropped out. I quickly switched to another channel but it was still the same when I switched back. It seemed to cure itself after a bit but I was thinking " where is that receipt?". Mr. Blug, this thing has got to be flawless to make it, I hope this isn't a glitch....

    Hmm that's a worry

  • I'll try and replicate it again today.

  • Tried for half an hour this morning trying to replicate the little glitch last night but it behaved flawlessly.

...I find that the worst kind of fault. If it's gonna go wrong you want it to stay that way. The last thing you want is for that to happen at a gig again

It is the worst type of issue.

The Bogner Ecstasy pedals are the same, the switching works 99 times out of 100, but that's not good enough for gigging.

Mine is on it's way at the moment, if I get a sniff of that type of problem it will be going back as I can't be doing with stuff that isn't reliable.

  • Don't let it spoil your enjoyment, it's a great amp.

How is it at home volume?
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • I think it's like any valve amp, when you crank it that little bit more for a gig you get the best. Home volume is ok though...

Cranking the Bluguitar Amp 1 should have no effect at all on the tone, since what you're increasing with the volume is the output of the class D power section, which is VERY linear and should add no compression at all.
Any improvement in sound when cranked is either down to your ears preferring the increased volume (which they do), or speaker compression.

Not sure that's true. I think the mini valve gets driven harder when you turn up the master.

That's why it has a power brake feature.

surely you can use that at home volumes though?

Only if you have the Remote1

I expect it sounds good at low volumes anyway.

It's good I was enjoying it at rehearsal last night
I put an EWS volume knob in the loop for solos and it works fine
Would I replace my live rig with it? ..... hmmmmm
    I would consider it...

  • At the moment it's replaced my Carr Slant 6 V and Riot pedal. I'm enjoying the versatility and easy set up. I used it DI'd (I was hearing it through my Marshall 1 x 12) at our gig last Saturday and the sound guy said it sounded great through the PA. reserving judgement on whether it's my main rig from now on...

The direct out sounds really good
I was running it through the PA as well
I'm just not 100 convinced on the distortion
Glassy... But not in a nice way
It's good but .... I'm just not sure
