Wireless was something you listened to the Home Service on?
Coke was something you put in the Rayburn?
Only if you were posh mind.

We used to dream of putting coke on the Rayburn.

he he ... the posh had Agas. Rayburn did exactly the same job, but for less money.

The OP was more about the way words change their meanings. This may be the passage of time, but also probably growing up. When I were a kid, a "dog" was a quadruped that went woof, and "pussy" was a term of endearment for a cat.

    Most cars didn't have seatbelts.
Amps did not have a grounded electrical cord.
Changing the channel on TV required walking up to it and cranking a knob on the front of it.
We lost Elvis Presley and Marc Bolan in the same year, 1977.

Jesus you must be really old Phil.  We were having this discussion last night.  2005 was 10 year ago.

1965 was 50 years ago. I remember it well.

The reproduction aeroplanes made for the 1965 film 'Those magnificent men in their flying machines' are now as old as the original aircraft they portrayed in the film and still flying.

I remember when TV series were called "Series" not "Seasons". And they didn't stop mid-way through a series for a "mid-season break".

"Lash" was a form of punishment
"Cool" was the state of an object after it had just been removed from a fridge
"Sick" was puking up after too much alcohol....
and "Chill" was what you caught if you went out without a coat on in the winter.
