Depending on where you live, you'll get between 86% and 96% blackout.  The show starts about 9:20am.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

No part of the UK mainland gets totality :-(

Still it'll be worth watching...I've still got my cardboard frame glasses from Cornwall '99.

A normal day, undistinguishable from the sun being under four layers of cloud cover then.

Which were excellent for watching the total cloud cover go dark and then brighten up again…

Bit of a bummer having driven down from Scotland for it. But probably should have guessed it would be like that!

Apart from the minor difference of it going very dark.

It is very dark anyway.  A month ago, you wouldn't have noticed.  I think it will be barely noticeable.  Or is it time to start flailing people's skins inside out whilst they are still alive and offer them up as sacrificial offerings

Ha ha. We drove down from the Midlands. We were on a cliff just north of Newquay and seeing the wall of darkness rush in from over the sea was fantastic, even though it was cloudy.

That's not a nice way to talk about Bonnie Tyler.

Although I did see her on Eurovision.

    Quite looking forward to it.

Just about remember the 1999 one (would have been three or four when it happened).

I'm heading up to Inverness to have a look.  Wouldn't surprise if it will less cloudy down here!

The other thing which I'd love to see is the burning of the Temple the next day on 21st March in Derry.  (Can't make it cos of a gig).

I was in Southampton for the 99 one, not much changed except the clouds got a bit darker.

There might be a joke in here somewhere, to do with sunny sides.....I'll be at the local clinic having a minor op' on my tubes at that exact moment in time. Hope the Dr doesn't mind having the window open!

  • I found it a bit eerie in 1999, all the birds suddenly stopped singing, then when it passed they all started again at the same time. All very Hitchcock it was. Quite looking forward to this next one.

Don't forget - it starts about 08:25 and peaks around half nine tomorrow morning.

The next time we get another one of these in the UK will be 2026, and the next total eclipse here won't be until we're all dead and gone - Sunday 23rd September 2090.
