what classic album would you like to see re-recorded

What's Hot
darcymdarcym Frets: 1297
there have been some albums that have worked great, such as alanis morissette who re-did jagged little pill acoustic, and there have been some huge messes such as Bonjovi this left feels right.

There are loads of bands and Albums that I'd like to see recorded with modern day quality recording, such as pretty much anything by Hendrix or SRV,

There are a few I'd like to see re-recorded differently as bands found their natural style, and there are others I'd be scared to touch, but also curious to see just what they could do and would do with the modern quality and techniques available to them now.

eg: anything by Queen or the Beatles.

what would you like to see re-recorded and why ?

I'd like to re-record Revolver and not put Yellow Submarine on there.

    I'd re-record Meddle without the barky-dog track.

And maybe Led Zep II without the Clangers' bonking session in the middle of Whole Lotta Love.

More seriously, EC's Pilgrim but without the digital/synthesised drums which IMHO ruin an otherwise perfectly good album.

David Gilmour's About Face but without the appalling eighties' production.

I'd also like to hear an unplugged version of Johns Cage's 4'33.

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. That album's so damn good, it deserves some modern production values.

I agree with that completely, which following on probably makes And Justice For All number one on such list.

Also I would have liked to have seen less crap thrown at the production of III Sides To Every Story. I know it's of it's time but even when it came out I thought it lacked a lot of the straight punch of Pornograffiti.

ok, its not a 'classic' album, but road games by alan holdsworth
it's his best stuff but it's all a bit mono-ish and small

    No way.
It needs re-recording with pre-synth and transistor amp values.

Justice needs re-recording with Marshall and passive pick ups. And then the bass mixed properly

The early Thin Lizzy albums like 'Fighting'. Brian Downey's drumming was great but the recordings of the drum tracks was so insipid. He might as well have been playing a cardboard box on 'Don't Believe A Word'.

South of Heaven - great songs but the production sounds so sterile it leaves me cold ( or at least colder than it should) it could be so much punchier. Also Autopsy Mental Funeral - needs a remix, but not a rerecord

Apparently he'd been listening to 'Hats' by The Blue Nile a lot before making that record. Hats is full of electronics - but is one of the most 'human' sounding records I've ever heard.

Simon Climie succeeded in making 'Pilgrim' sound simply wooden - which is a shame. 'River of Tears' is one of EC's most personal songs. The live version on the 'One More Car, One More Rider' DVD is stunning.

The obvious one for me would be 'Brothers In Arms'. Some 'very' 80s drum and keyboard sounds that it would be much better off without.

Same with Robert Cray's 'Strong Persuader'.

One More Car... added to my Amazon wish list. River of Tears is a great song.

Edit - Just realised that the DVD is region 1 so unless my player is hackable then it's pretty rubbish. However did find this that someone left on the Tube. Nice solo from about 4:02...

I'd be happy with a rerecording of Hendrix with a tuner.

Really great under-rated album but the drums could be so much better

as mentioned earlier Thin Lizzy love to hear some of the early stuff revisited with a couple of hot rodded marshals and modern production. Even Jailbreak sounds a bit flat and life less by modern standards
