That's a bloody good idea. My Reaper song folder is full of half-finished songs, so the chance to get fresh input and a new perspective via such a system would be great.

  • I'm in !!
    Waiting for more info...

Oh, and what are you talking about paulodrums ?  Reaper works in Win and OS X.  I run Reaper in Yosemite 10.10. 3 on a MacBook pro and on Win 7 pro 64 bit on a Quadcore desktop. Both function brilliantly !

Hi Fred. Talking about that ohmstudio... I know Reaper does but my DAWs are:

    Logic Pro X
Presonus Studio One 2 and 3
    Cubase Pro 8
    Pro Tools 11
    Ableton Live Suite 9

We're looking at some DAW agnostic solutions.

reaper is quite a 'harmless' install isnt it?
very small and doesnt make a mess everywhere.
the only problem is figuring out how it works etc.

but if people are just swapping full length wav/aiffs then you should be able to work across platforms, no?
just mix it down and then extend the start of track so they all have the same start point

Yep, what @Fazer said.  I've worked cross platform with Reaper and Cubase and all that's needed are full track audio files cos all DAWs can handle .wav and .aiff.  (Doesn't even need to be the same sample rate and bit depth but probably helps if it's the same.  BPM is handy if you want to add MIDI but after it's added just bounce the MIDI thing down to audio before sharing it onwards.

Hmmm. Kompoz seems to have some pretty neat tools for everything collaborate-y, is completely DAW-agnostic, has plenty of ways to download/upload files (including Dropbox and Google Drive for the bandwidth-conscious, as well as their own client) and - for money - can handle private groups and projects.

User interface seems to be fairly good, too.

Has anybody used it in anger before?

I don't even use Reaper either, so I'd prefer something that didn't mean I had to use that piece of shit! ;)

Yes. Here's my profile - Scrambler

It's three years ago since I toyed with it - I think it had a lot of potential. Lot's of guidance on how to upload things with sync tones etc. Like lots of things, I shoulda persevered with it... I also signed up for Indaba, but felt that was aimed at a musical pool I was less interested in.

Edited to add: might even try finishing writing these tunes now!
