I've been playing a lot of Wolfmother over the weekend. Simple to play but the songs rock hard. Colossal had me jumping about yesterday.

Any 80's R&B that contained natty Guitar work, think Luther Vandross or Grace Jones etc

The guitar part on Grace Jones Slave to the Rhythm is just fantastic.

Nobody has said "Satisfaction " by The Rolling Stones? Come on guys! :P

I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

Jumping Jack Flash in open E is a hoot, and - crucially for me - really easy.

One of my students is approaching the end of a song we're working on.. so we've just come up with his next lil' mountain to climb..

Thin Lizzy: Don't Believe a Word from Live and Dangerous

I'm really looking forward to working on this one with him cos it's a really fun song to play.. it has a great vibe..

play every note as if it were your first

    Drifting by Andy McKee

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Killing Floor by Howlin' Wolf - easy enough on the face of it but to actually nail it with the right feel and timing is trickier than you'd (I'd) expect. Satisfying when it all comes out right though.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Judas Priest's Living after midnight is a lot of fun to play.  Not very difficult and has a nice solo.

    Higher Ground (RHCP) bass
King of the hill theme tune :)
    Mollys Chambers
    Needle and the damage done
Hurry on sundown and Quark Strangeness charm.
    Hysteria (bass)

I kind of mash my way through them, I play all the right notes, not necessarily in the right order :)

Separate ways - Journey. Big footstompy opening, massive gainy chords.

Goodbye girl - Toto. Turn it up loud.

Still of the Night - Whitesnake. Must be wearing spandex for maximum effect.

There are far too many to list, it really depends on what I'm playing, whether electric or acoustic, 6 string or twelve, not to mention the mood I am in, like if I'm in the mood for pinched harmonics, blues, rock, classical, whether I want to relieve some tension and anger or feeling more melodic or bluesy.  There are just far too many variables to put together a short list, one thing is for sure things like ZZ Top, and power chord heavy stuff never fails to make me smile, but the same could be said for right hand tapping, so it really is a hard one to answer.

For 12 string acoustic two tracks that jump straight at me, even though they where not written for 12 string, is Randy Rhodes Dee, and Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive, I find I'm always playing those when I have a twelve string in my hand.  More so than Hendrix's Hear My Train A Comin which was written for a twelve string.

    Suffragette City...

(reminds me of rushing home from school to get my guitar and amp out in the front room and get the LP on my Dad's massive Quad HiFi setp before my parents got in and made me stop. Wah half cocked of course! c1973)
