  • I use 4cm and I disable the volume knob completely. when plugged in everything seems to work at unity as standard.
didnt know you could do that! However i find it handy having a little volume bump handy without touching my amp... pesky drummers
I'm the opposite, I'm so clumsy I don't trust having the volume down there without me knocking it and throwing everything out of whack!

My Volume knob only controls the backline (1\4 outs)
The XLR outs to the PA are on their own

    Not to my knowledge
Still using that shitty H&H amp too
He's the only person ever to get a decent noise out of it but I still DI him through the PA
I've also made him buy a pedal board ... You should see his coupon .. He's hating it :)
Is that still working?! Can't believe he has a pedalboard, fucking sell out
That amp will be pumping out muffled bass tones long after you and I have punched out

On the EQ subject - can anyone please confirm what the global default EQ values are please...?
You can reset the Global EQ to factory default. From the Global EQ screen, press ACTION, Knob 1 (Reset Global EQ), and then Knob 6 (OK).

Added the Red Dirt to the board. That's it finished... Although it might have an RC Booster or Spark put in where the Red Dirt is in a few weeks

I looked into this last night at rehearsal - seems you can't 'disable' the volume knob, just assign it as dedicated to a different output (i.e. I am using the 1\4" out, but set the master volume knob to be assigned to digital out only).

Is that how you have it? Or is there another way?

    Nope that's it
You could also set it just to the XLRs but digital out is more sensible if you aren't using it

I took my B rig to rehearsal last night instead of the Helix
    Hated it
Really don't enjoy playing without this thing now

Just going back to the whole 'big volume knob' and clipping for a minute....

I've seen a thread on the Line 6 forums where the designer has said that the large volume knob is placed within the digital domain, and as such, can be used to reduce clipping. However, that only seems to potentially refer to the in-built amps - would that be the same for using a real amp in 4CM? I'd imagine so...

Just wish the Helix had meters so we could actually see the clipping levels and the effect the various params have on it.

Weird, innit; I look at that and think it looks insanely complex.

I look at the Helix and it seems very simple and elegant.

    Yup.

When I look at photos of various versions of the Rig of Doom and the board that went with it I now wonder if I would ever do that again.

If L6 get round to doing a Darkglass pedal or 2 and a better Synth (The Digitech BSW is still the best one for me) then I could recreate all the sounds I ever used in the RoD.
