I'm pretty sure I said that in the TGP thread. I meant it pragmaticly though, there's only so much improvement you CAN make over the HD. Short of literally teleporting an amp into your house when you boot it up.

I hate gear wars. Stuff either works for you or it doesn't. But dissing something you've never played, heard or seen because it's made by a particular company is daft.

Fans of bespoke or high end products seem prone to this idiocy.

Yeah, I thought pod HD models were fairly good - it's the cab sim that's not so much. But run into a power amp, you can gig a hd500 and not raise any concerns for tone.

These do sound excellent though - certainly good enough for me. Probably for the next 10 years. Or when gas next strikes.

Just been doing some recording using my little AMT preamp and some IRs. This was the setup I was planning replacing with a Helix. While it doesn't sound exactly like a Plexi, Dual Rec, Fender Deluxe Reverb etc it actually sounds great, starting to wonder if I really need to shell out for a Helix

Without a band, there is no point in me owning a Helix. That's about the size of it. I may come back to it at some point.
