It's hard to trust a tonal review of someone who can't hear that the guitar is out of tune though.

I remember Tony having a falling out with the guys over at Fractal and it seems he still bears the scars. In fact the owner called him a "Chucklehead". He gave the Axe FX2 a review score of 2/10 (after he got abused of course).

I know what Waz means though. I watched most of it.

i agree, i watched the whole thing.... he clearly has a passion for all things guitar. I quite liked it, especially as its the most complete and in depth review I've seen of the HELIX.

@rossyamaha so you guys do a nice selection of bass amp models and you can't be arsed to do any bass specific drives?

The Darkglass B7K and Vintage Microtubes Deluxe have become vital to so many bass rigs.

According to Cliff, Mr. McKenzie was squatting Fractalaudio.co.uk and Fractalaudio.eu which is apparently illegal, and when they asked him to desist, he demanded money.

After that, Tony went all "I hate Fractal" ... well of course he does... they wouldn't cough up the ransom!!

he seems to walk that line somewhere between having half an idea of what he's talking about and utter bollox..

and then he starts playing.. which is thoroughly entertaining.. 

like the Portsmouth Sinfonia [although they are seriously cool]..

Sorry but Tony Mac is a bit of an idiot. His playing at the end is the stuff of blues jam nightmares.

Yeah, I wonder how much of giving 10/10 for the Helix is to get up the nose of Fractal.

I've come across him a few times before and still think he's a bit of a knob, sorry. And the playing at the end is blue jam hell.

Yep, out of tune and kerrrazy...and I marvel at those standard rock tones people ache for. Dead easy to get out of any half baked amp with a cheap od...

But, ive learnt as much from his video as any other ive seen so far, and its nice not to have the big, positive sell

He takes AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES before he shows us how it sounds (I did NOT watch all of that....). And then he plays an out of tune guitar, badly. I'm glad he's happy, and I suspect his use is actually closer to how most Helixes will be used than most would like to admit, but ye gods. The epitomy of "all the gear, no idea".

To Line 6's credit it does sound very good tone-wise, though.
