Surely this has to be the most absurd thread title ever?

On a side note, I occasionally work at sheltered accommodation places, and the lifts in some of these are made by Shindler.....in big letters on the threshold... Shindlers lifts, I kid ye not.

I wonder if that's in place to keep the steady flow of old folk coming/going?
Are many of us in the places you work ;-)

Westerns. Never liked them when I was younger, and they seem to be stock filler for some of the film channels.

They have never had any relevance to life over here, they may as well show Eskimo films (no, not Pingu).

I had to go look at the lift in our office building but, sadly, didn't turn out to be Shindler. One day I would quite like to go and look at the Northampton Lighthouse, as it is known, which is the National Lift Test Tower in Northampton. No longer in use but a must see for lift aficionados.

Rather than "gorenography" I prefer the more accurately descriptive term "big bags of horse spunk", for that is what these movies are.

I like a good horror movie, in fact, I love em. But violent and sometimes sexual torture for entertainment? No thanks.
So don't watch Basic Instinct, Batman (fairly sure all three Nolan films has a torture scene), Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves, Princess Bride, Fargo, Taken, Three Kings, Severance, Hellraiser, virtually any film set in a war, virtually any action film, virtually any corrupt cop films... all of these have violent torture or in... as for horror films WITHOUT violent torture? We're down to only a few. And as Hellraiser is considered a classic horror film then I'm not sure you do like good horror movies
Ok. Anyone who thinks that any of those films have anything in common with the torture porn genre is deluded. We have different tastes, I think that's obvious and if you enjoy them, fair enough.

Think we'll just have to disagree.

I shall now vanish from this thread like *clicks fingers*... that!  Carry on!

or films with like words and a story and stuff..

"Come and See".. that is just too real and therefore truly disturbing.

Any gorenography, I just cannot stomach it. Life's shitty enough as it is without sitting down to watch people being ripped apart for 'entertainment'.  unless it's sooo.. tongue-in cheek . i,e, like Bad Taste.

Mama Mia.. , Sex in the City.... oh Lord NO!

And finally... any Michael Bay movie
Gorenography may be the worst word I've ever read.

Torture-porn, gore-porn and "gorenography" are terms we could do without - they mean FUCK ALL.

gore-for-your-entertainment ... so a film with gore in... hmm what else could we use this logic for?

    Halloween - Knife-porn
    Transformers - Explode-porn
Fist Full of Dollars - Sand-and-shoot-porn
    Spinal Tap - music-joke-porn
    Schindler's List - sad-porn
    Paranormal Activity - Loud-noises-porn
    Rush - Wheel-porn

You see? The appending of "porn" or some derivative of pornography means nothing... ALL films are for our entertainment and titillation. The people who first coined these useless terms should be beaten to death with a thesaurus.

Not liking a film because it's gory is fine... but don't become one of "them" the people who sit there smugly sniffing their own arseholes because they think their shit smells better. Dislike gorey films because you don't like them, or because quite a lot are terrible movies... but disliking a film because a reporter came up with a shitty meaningless portmanteau of words that don't add meaning to each other is the sort of thing that should see you and the reporter banned from ever seeing films again
Gosh.. that's the biggest load of bollocks I've read in a long time.

Gorenography is a suitably efficient name for a genre of films that take delight in displaying the visceral bloody agonies of people being tortured and killed for the entertainment of the audience. I've no doubt that many (perhaps sociopathic) people enjoy that detailed level of human rendering (there always were large audiences for public executions) but others do not. A succinct term to label films of this ilk helps the average film fan to paper-sift this sort of content.

Your hysterical little rant implies you have a love of this sort of genre, as I suspect do the majority of patients at Broadmoor
