Yes, cracking player and stupidly retired from playing guitar these days. Such a waste of talent.

    I'll add Tony McPhee.

Mike Oldfield - I think a great and very distinctive player. His guitar playing probably overshadowed by his overall multi-tracked composition thing.

Trevor Rabin . . . . when Yes broke up and reformed for the umpteenth time, Trevor jumped in from 1982 to 1994 ).
He learned most if not all of the Yes back catalog and brought a new edge to the Prog Monsters ( Yes )  . . . .  Joking apart though, that guy "can" play guitar . . . . Ok ! ! ! he did look as camp as a row of tents and caravans in a field but  . . What a player :-)
Id just like to point out that, despite all the video and DNA evidence, it genuinely wasn't me, your Honour  !

Really?  I'm glad he's got a fan but I always struggled with Billy Duffy's playing.  I thought he looked pretty cool though.

A great example of an older player who spent some time improving his playing skills to an extent that he was almost a different guitarist completely. I remember buying Painkiller when it was released and thinking they'd hired a young shredder until I checked the sleeve notes. The contrast in his playing from the early JP stuff to that era was like night and day. Not forgetting KK of course who did the same!

    Vini Reilly, The Durutti Column

He's got his distinctive sound, which is not to everyone's tastes to be fair but I love it and have most of his work.

So if you like big echoey splurges over hypnotic rhythms you might be a fan too.

Why so? He's my favourite player of all time - but underrated?

The "Return of the Durutti Column" LP was a big influence on my playing style, when I was a teenager (1980).

    Thanks for the inspiration Vinni.
