    Don't forget to learn the chords to each song, knowing the chords, their inversions and good voice leading is the guitar's main role in most of the Jazz bands I've played with.

    I remember a pro player saying to me that you've got to be good at "comping" if you want to play Jazz guitar in bands, he was right.
    "Music makes the rules, music is not made from the rules."
