Torque Practice amp - 5w piece of shit..

    Squier 15w piece of shit..

Crate G15XL - my 1st proper amp as a snotty nosed teenager, sold to parents as the end-all amp by a certain @keithf of this very forum in his Picton Music days...

1961 Selmer Zodiac Twin Thirty - inherited from my dad, it used to fart, pop and frazzle and was generally scary (amp, not Dad bless him)

Hiwatt Custom 100 - ex Motorhead, my 1st foray into 4x12 stack land, an absolute beast of an amp, and this was picked up at a Boot-Sale (ah, those were the days..) for 15 quid..

Marshall JCM 800 2204 100w head and cab - horrible thing that blew up at every given opportunity..toured UK with it though in a Thrash/Prog/Rock thingy....

Orange OR120 head - marginally better, great at decapitating the 1st 3 rows of punters at gigs..back up to the above

Marshall Valvestate 8080 - back to a combo....great amp, served me well for years gigging.

Rivera TBRSL - rackmounted Rivera Lukather signature - great hunk of junk that spent more time on the bench than on the top of a cab..

Mesa studio 22 - 1st Mesa, which got me hooked on them..great amp this

Mesa DC-3 - bit of strange one as I remember...didn't last long

Fender Hot Rod Deville in Tweed - silly loud

Mesa MKIIb - awkward amp to dial in..

Mesa MKIII in Imbuya - ex Rolling Stones according to the letter and road case - was always microphonic regardless of what valves were put in it...probably the reason it was "ex".

Mesa MKIV - my first IV, a great great amp, gigged for years with this one - it ended up as part of trade with carl999pop from MR forum

Rivera Fandango - 55w beast, loved this amp

Marshall JTM45 head + cab - mid life crisis "I need a full-on rock amp" moment....didn't last long as I wasn't getting the chanc eto open it up at gigs...great amp though, lovely noise..

Mesa IV Widebody - another lovely IV and made me realise how good the MK series are - sold to Jetfire on here

    and currently..

Bogner Shiva - still well and truly feeling the love on this one, great amp and hopefully my last for some time..

    and

a small Line 6 Flextone for rehearsals etc.

    In roughly the order I got them;

    - Crate 1x10 15 watt combo. This was bought in Melbourne in the early 90s. Bu rights it should be shit, but I actually think it's a cool little amp!

    - Carlsbro 100 watt solid state 2x12 thingy. Absolute bollocks, I did my first two years of gigging with it and even now it's not sunk in how bad it sounded.

     - Line 6 flextone 3 xl. Had a lot of fun with this.

    - Vox ac30cc2. became my main gigging amp for four years, though I modded it a lot

    - Vox ac30cch. Was mostly a backup amp and test subject for mods I wanted to do to my gigging amp.

    - Vox ac30cc1. I don't really know why I got this, I didn't need three ac30s.

    - Vox Night Train. It was ok, neat little backup.

     - Vox ac50cph. My first foray into higher gain

    - Miles Platting 50 watt head. Old vintage amp, supposedly like a jmp. Never really worked right, so sold it to a someone who reckoned they could fix it up.

    - Vox ac30hwh. My fourth ac30, definitely my favourite amp ever.

    - Genz Benz Black Pearl head. Great and versatile amp, sold because it didn't quite stack up to the ac30.

    - Mesa Tremoverb 2x12 combo. Massively powerful and versatile amp, would have kept it if I didn't like simplicity and pedals so much.

     - Vox ac100cph. Biiiiiig sounding amp.

Some long forgotten solid state piece of sh1t

Marshall 8080 (Valvestate Combo). Sold many years ago.

Marshall VS100H (Valvestate head). My main gigging amp for years, sold it on ebay in the end

Marshall AS50R. Still got this, haven't switched it on for ages since I stopped gigging in an acoustic duo.

Hayden Mofo (Dave Green early one). Sold via MR

Fender Mustang 1. Sold via MR

Orange Micro Terror. Back-up head, travels with me to every gig.

Egnater Tweaker 40. My main gigging head

Yamaha THR10. The perfect home practice amp

  • Westfield Piece of Shite

    Park Piece of Shite

Crate GX60 - very good clean and reverb, actually - less said about the distortion the better

    Marshall JCM2000 40w - returned because faulty

another Marshall JCM2000 40w - also returned because faulty - exchanged for...

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (USA build) - stupidly sold - should have hung onto it

Vox Cambridge 30w hybrid - what the hell was I thinking

Marshall JCM2000 20w - obviously the crack hadn't worn off yet

Fender Blues Junior MK1 - OK but shallow hissy reverb, no twang to it unless turned up

Vox AD15 - actually quite good Vox sounds, the rest was meh

Laney LC15 - very briefly owned - speaker change might have made it sound less harsh in retrospect

Vox DA15 - why am I still buying all these mediocre amps?

Ashdown Essex Blonde - never fully bonded with it - now sold to Gojirosan

    Roland JC-50 - as above!

Roland Microcube - absolute belter of a little amp - keeping hold of this one as it's so useful

Fender Tweed Blues Junior MK2 - substantial improvement on the original, I may still upgrade the reverb tank at some point, and plan to keep hold of this as backup/portable jamming amp

Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue - wanted one of these for more than 10 years, and it was worth the wait. Sounds stellar when turned up, also sounds great at polite volumes either clean or with pedals. I honestly don't imagine this being replaced or superseded any time in the foreseeable

Fender Mustang II - bought on a bit of a whim for clean/blues/rockabilly sounds without needing to use pedals, but decided that it was worth sticking with existing fender valve amps + pedalboard, which I just found easier on the ear somehow. Took it back and swapped it for RE-20.
