Absolutely but these points should also be how any guitar player worth his salt plays in any band, regardless of venue size and equipment.

I'm only going by my experience with a band recently who insisted I max my J20 out to compete with his Orange 30 2x12 stack. Although the J20 competed very well I really don't want to be doing that every gig. Mind you I can't see those volumes ever being allowed at a pub/club sized venue. Hopefully a one off experience

Indeed. I made the point only because the OP was asking about playing in a rock band with another (loud) guitarist.

Carrying on from this (as you know, I hate to let sleeping dogs lie..!) I went to see our own @bustercrabb last night and he was using a J20 & J20H with a Telecaster and it sounded sublime. Rich, fat, punchy with plenty of cut too. He's playing venues with this rig that most of us can only hope to grace one day so, dial in the amp properly, stick a mic in front and rock out! ;-)

Carrying on from this (as you know, I hate to let sleeping dogs lie..!) I went to see our own @bustercrab last night and he was using a J20 & J20H with a Telecaster and it sounded sublime. Rich, fat, punchy with plenty of cut too. He's playing venues with this rig that most of us can only hope to grace one day so, dial in the amp properly, stick a mic in front and rock out! ;-)

I'd love to hear that. Where does he play or who is or the band he plays in?

Buster is Paul from the Temperance Movement. 3 J20's and an Audio Kitchen combo on stage last night. Great band and a boutique amp fans wet dream ;-) Highly recommended!

Great band, I'm seeing them in London tomorrow night. I've also had the pleasure of attending a vintage trouble gig and Nalle's tone was the best amp sound I've ever heard. As miserneil says, mic it!

I believe it was the other guy, since replaced by Matt White, and it's Matt who's running the 17w Audio Kitchen.
