it can be a boost/OD/OD808.......it's the pedal that you put in FRONT of your very favourite overdrive pedal tae give it that certain LEG UP/extra gain required for solos...I'm also curious as tae the pedal of choice in front of the valve driven Kingsley jobs......

Put a volume pedal (or clean boost) in the loop! It's the only way to raise volume without changing tone.

From all accounts, no, at least not as bad. It basically sounds like a Klon, almost exactly like a Klon.

TC Spark. Lots of sound shapes to be had with the three modes & the eq.
Ulbrick Megaladon. Daft name, good pedal. Have it on always for cleans but also has lots of level for boost.
Mojo Hand Rook in the boost position

For just a clean boost either the MXR Micro Amp or the Xotic EP Booster. For a mid boost with some grit is has to be a TS. If you want a combination of both with options to switch bass, treble or mids along with gain then the TC Spark Boost is hard to beat.

Catalinbread echorec has a colorsound power boost as a preamp circuit. I've turned the preamp up high so it drives the pedal after it (mesa tone burst). I have it in buffered bypass, so the boost is always present.

That's why I have my delay so early in my chain. Sounds great used like that.

I do like the standard SD-1 or the MXR GT-OD in front of a dirty amp for extra gain/volume.
I like the MXR Microamp in the loop for a volume only boost.

Suhr Koko Reloaded is the gold standard for me I think - very useful. Suhr's Dual Boost is also excellent.

In my case the volume knob gets used as the main solo boost.

Failing that, the SHO does a pretty good job.

Cornish TB-83 Extra or Catalinbread Naga Viper.

TB83 extra is a good call, though I A/B'd mine with my pedalworx McBoost and it sounded essentially identical, except the McBoost cost less than half what the Cornish did. I sold the Cornish and have had the McBoost for probably 10 years now.
