I picked up a Caroline Icarus cheap a while back and love it. Had used the ep boost side of a Rook Royale before that.

For just a clean boost either the MXR Micro Amp or the Xotic EP Booster.
I wouldn't describe either as ''clean''.   Both impart something on the tone.  For a real clean boost one needs a transparent volume boost type pedal.

+1   for the TC Spark Booster

It's a very versatile pedal and boost.   Clean boost; dirty boost;  light overdrive; plus EQ.

Suhr Koko - normal or Reloaded. My fave pedal, let alone fave boost. Clean and mid boost in one pedal, separate levels, just awesome

Barefoot Red Rooster, and Mooer Flex boost.

I I like the Moore for two reasons. Small footprint, and I use it to drive the tubes in my reverb tank, to push reverb tone 'forward', add bass, and a touch of hair.

Tone is much less washed out and more 'present' for surfy stuff

I like a good super hard on - oooh errr Its one of those pedals that i like to leave on, it just adds some niceness to my signal.

However, I am currently using a sick as after a ts808 for a volume boost or just a to push my clean amp into compressing. Sounds lovely!

I use a Barber Trifecta as a boost with a Crunch Box - does change the tone but I like it.

I have a super hard on always on as mentioned before and a Klone to push my rat when a boost is needed

DIY Ramrod Boost. SHO inspired: small and a lot cheaper though!

OT but this was my first go at acid etching.

Another vote for a Mooer, this time the Pure Boost, I use mine into the front end of my Laney to just move it just into crunch territory and it really shines there.

I also have a soft spot for the LPB-1. I bought mine for buttons purely on a whim and thought that was decent too if you just wanted a tad more boost. Worked well in the loop too but not as flexible as my Pure Boost.

  • The boost half of my JHS Kilt works beautifully on its own. I have a Dr Scientist Cleanness at the start of the chain, and the pedal is a work of genius.

I use the Kingsley Bard (tremolo) as a boost (thanks to Simon at Kingsley, I'm going to mod the footswitch to Tremolo/Boost) to push my amp. A compressor before the Bard sends the Bard into a fantastic overdrive.
