FX, Quitting Smoking, and GAS-channelling: the board-build incentive

  • Exciting to see an empty board !!

Man, that Cleaness must be impressive to survive the kull...
It just makes everything sound better, a very impressive pedal indeed. Ryan at Dr Scientist is a pedal genius, wish he still made these (though the circuit is still in The Elements).

I have a stock Rat 2 still lying around as well.

So that is all my pedals bar the Frazz Dazzler fuzz sold. Feels a bit odd.

Really looking forward to building up the new board again. Already have designs on the Tonal Recall and Empress Reverb... which would cost me 2.5 months worth of cigarettes.

Good luck.  Presumably you are taking vaping costs into account?  Not that I have any idea what that would be.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

Yes, budgeted. It's a tiny fraction of what smoking costs me.

  • All the money from the pedal sales has gone straight on the credit cards. No prevaricating.

Great idea, good luck with it  :)

Not sure about swapping one addiction for another though.  Still it keeps the corporates happy with a revenue stream, although I have to agree with @Teetonetal 's comments.

As an added incentive to both you and @digitalscream , don't just consider it to be a £300 a month habit, take it over a bigger, but realistic timescale, not just over a year, but...

... that's £7,200 over two years, now that's a real saving, serious kit budget, and lots of time to improve your playing too, what's not to like ?     <:-P

I'm just down to the Frazz Dazzler (for sale), the Cleanness and a Rat 2 I have lying around now.

And now the wish list, because I need something to aim for.

Versatile OD/distortion (may well get the JHS Kilt again, it's magnificent)

Fuzz (though if no-one buys the Frazz I'll just keep it)

Mod pedal (one of the Minifoogers, possibly the Chorus or Flange, maybe even a Chase Bliss)

    Trem (see above)

    Delay (no idea)

Reverb (can't see past the Empress right now).

The only pedal I'll definitely buy again is the Red Panda Particle. It's a true original and brilliant.

See my 'review' of the Thorpy Warthog. I've not encountered a more versatile OD/Distortion pedal. I'd also recommend keeping hold of the Frazz even though that's not in the spirit of your challenge. I love mine and not sure you'll end up with anything better.

The Warthog has already gone to a good home. As for the Frazz, I know @MrSwanson has had his for sale on here for months and it hasn't sold (no idea why), so I'll probably end up keeping it anyway. It's brutal, original, just cracking, and I know how folk on here are always switching between fuzz pedals, but I found one I loved early on and stuck with it, so maybe a good reason to keep sticking with it.

Easy to be an armchair oracle.
Despite now working out how I can afford a JVM head for a crazy good price, which is exactly 'a crazy good amount' more than I currently have.

Day one on the vapouriser. No cigarettes. Going well so far.

Oddly, I found days one and two easy. Day three was full of niggles, and day four (today) has been torturous.

  • Get through 2 weeks. Then it starts to get easier. Also learn to hate the smell. That helps.

A full ashtray tipped into a glass jar with 3" of water in there. Put the lid on and open it to take a lungful while the kettle is boiling for your morning drink.

You won't get past day 5 before screaming that won't ever smoke again.

Update: I got a bonus from work, which is money earned, and I'm an impatient sort, so

1.The main thing, I'm still not smoking
    2. I put more half the bonus back onto credit cards
    3. With the other part of the bonus, I've managed to

Buy my JHS Kilt back off @Wazmeister (cheers, pal)
    Buy a MF Chorus (thanks @Beef )
    Buy a MF Delay

    4. There is £ that I would've spent on cigarettes building up in the GAS account.

Feeling rather bloody good about all this.
