Lots of great suggestions here. I think I'd have to hear them all back to back to make a definitive personal judgement

  • Christopher Walken. Seriously, I love his vocal phrasing and the way his pitch fluctuates when he speaks.  Very quirky and distinctive and makes me want to listen to him more.

Don't know if we've done this yet, but......................

As in the title, not singing voice but speaking voice, tons of great actors past and present. I think my Favourite is James Mason.

Such a commanding, confident and sophisticated voice with perfect delivery.

One particular scene I like is this.

Don't watch if you are under 18 or a Scaredy-Cat.

I love musical voices, people who seem to speak in chords where the rest of us speak in single notes.

As mentioned above, Samuel L Jackson is an example of this, as are David Lee Roth and John Sebastian.

Brian Blessed and Dustin Hoffman have distinctive voices sure, but rich and musical? No.  Like listening to a broken leaky tuba and a clogged and cracked clarinet, respectively.

  • Patrick Stewart or Christopher Lee.

Richard Burton for Under Milk Wood &
Peter Jones for the narrator in Hitchhikers Guide (R4 version)

    Alec Guinness for Smiley
John Arlott for his lyrical descriptions of nothing in particular.

Not an actor per se, but the best voice of all time has to be Mr Zappa!

  •  Not an actor, but David Attenborough has the best documentary voice, no contest.
