Looks all original bar the two blue mains caps.  Is it properly earthed and the "death cap" removed??

Old fenders had a cap in the mains feed.  If it goes, then you can have a live chassis - not good.  May well have been removed, but it should have a 3 core mains lead and the earth wire of the three should be firmly attached to the chassis.  If not, get it sorted, you won't de-value the amp.

Is there a cap from the ground switch to the chassis? If so, you need to remove it and fit a 3-wire power cable so it can be earthed properly. I can't see it but it's probably hidden behind the switch if it's still there.

They're so called because if the cap shorts, depending on the switch position the amp chassis could be connected directly to the mains live, and so will your guitar strings. You might want to avoid that :).

If you're really set against changing the mains cable, at least have the cap replaced by a modern 'Class Y' type which are purposely designed for safety-critical applications which could lead to a shock hazard and are guaranteed to fail to open-circuit rather than a short.

So my Tweedy Deluxe that I bought from @Trude at the beginning of July is the single most amazing amp I've owned so far. Point to point hand-wired and a really good late 50s Tweed Deluxe copy. Cleans up like a dream from the guitar and has a really versatile array of tones available, and to top it all...ALL my guitars sound amazing through it. Plus it's as light as a feather.

I couldn't wait for/afford a genuine one, and I think I've got an absolute peach. really high quality components etc etc blah, blah.

@Gassage, please post some sound files or videos as soon as...we need to hear it!

    And once again, congratulations!

Did anything else survive the fire? And I use the term survive loosely, obviously..
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Paul,

A deeper fix of the same flavour. Insanely dirty.

Respectfully, how can you compare a 58 year old speaker with a new one?!

Well, I would think of things like response, feel, attack, tightness, bottom end etc.

Hmmmm- well, it's tough to describe- the whole amp is as dirty as hell. The speaker, so all have told me, is the abolsutely key. It's warmer than new ones for sure. Headroom isn't a feature of this amp- it's designed to be dirty
