Where do you go to find new music?

What's Hot

I asked this question of someone at the weekend and they suggested Tom Ravenscroft on BBC6. I've given him an hour of my life and been underwhelmed!

I used to listen to Zane Lowe when he was on Radio 1 and got tons of good bands from him, but Annie Mac doesn't do it for me either.

Where else would you lot suggest?

Spotify, Soundcloud but most Facebook. Seek out groups in the music genres you like and hey presto. I found dozens of great new bands (and a mass of crap) that way.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

I get a lot of digital music from Haulix. I get recommendations from friends and from Facebook. I like chasing obscure bands n Youtube.

Radio has been fairly pointless for me for decades.

  • I've been listening to a few things that have been in the free 4:52am magazine. Nice to read about the bands and then just click the links to hear them.

  • Radios not that good for discovering new stuff anymore. It usually takes an industry push to get them on there in the first place so you get a lot of average but marketable bands with the odd 1hr slot thrown in at some godawful hour when no one's listening.

nowt wrong with that. there was a time I used to go into a record shop and just buy a CD that "looked interesting" but I knew nothing about. singles usually. I still treasure some of those CD's I bought back then, furthermore I cant find a lot of that music online.

Nice feature of Spotify is that it suggests similar artists so if you like a new name there could be ten more new names to have a listen to as well.
This week's new artist for me is Spinvis.
