Just putting a few feelers out - re faded burst 1959 Gibbo LP  (Conversion from 1960’s LP)

Ever heard of the legendary “The Husk”? This is the famous 1959 Gibson Les Paul that sold for £500K as if it were the real deal. Well here is the sister guitar.

This Late sixty’s Gibson Les Paul gold top was remodelled to resemble the legendry 1959 burst by the famous Dick Knight. Dick become a legend in the luthier’s world in the 70’s and was renowned for his work refinishing pre cbs fenders and High End Archtops jazz guitars. He was also well known for his conversions. This particular Guitar needs to be seen and heard in the flesh to be appreciated.

This Gibson started life as a late Sixty’s Gold Top and underwent serious re-modification to its current spec.

Modifications that were carried out included pick-up routes being widened and a Brazilian rosewood finger board maintaining the original inlays and a stunning AAA grade flame one piece maple cap added to the body using all the original hide glues and techniques used in the original factory. Most of the hardware remain original apart from the electrics. Much of the wiring loom have been replaced with working modern equivalents that still replicate the vintage sound and reliability for the professional musician. The current pick-ups are now gorgeous GFS Pafs and the awful 1970’s Dimarzio’s high gain has been removed. This guitar is guaranteed to turn heads and get the Gibson buddies talking.

The Gibson has had an interesting history. The chap who owned this guitar for around 5 years and has used it for some high-profile gigs, having toured with the likes of Cliff Richard, Toploader and T-Pau to name a few so this guitar is one serious piece of kit. Previous to the last guitarist owning this guitar it was owned and toured by the legendry Tony Morrison AKA Tony Feedback or Tony Perfect as some like to refer to him. He owned this guitar for roughly 20 years and still continues to use it when he can for a back up to his other Vintage Gibson Les Paul.  Tony’s music career took off in the late 70’s with new wave mod band “Long Tall Shorty”. He later left them to join the “Angelic Up Starts” before joining Sham 69 and playing with other well know bands such as Republica, and the UK Subs so this guitar is perfect for anyone who wants to own a piece of punk History.
