Hello and welcome back.
So the oiling IS done.. Did some buffing today, doesn't really need too much... and also I did the shielding. And to be honest this is the first time ive ever done it... My Les Pauls don't have shielding and so I never did it before with the thinking, if its good enough for Gibson its good enough for me... And indeed ive never had any issues with interference with either the guitars I have built or my Gibsons.. But I for what ever reason decided this build wanted it. So I did it
I used that copper sticky tape stuff.. Not too hard really.. You just need a rounded tool like the end of a screwdriver and run it around the tape to make sure its secure

And of course the control cavity and back plate get some too.. Remembering to tape the tape over the edge so it makes contact with the backplate

Lol.. Well I only say that because I have used a Gibson since about 1993, on stage and in rehearsal rooms.. Never ever have I had noise problems or interference... ? (from P90s or Humbuckers)

Hello all...
Sorry for the long gap.. Been dealing with some personal stuff, looking after my parents... But anyway, this build is still happening.. I just have to do a few last things... Things have calmed down now so hopefully I will get back to it this week and get it finished.
And now we have the annoying Photobucket issue so all the pics from this thread have gone.. Re-posting them all is just too painful. So for now if you want to have a look over them you can check it on Photobucket.. Heres a link to the library containing all of the pics for this build.

Right.. So im back again with another small update...
I feel like I have to say (especially since this is my first build thread on here)... There are very good reasons this has taken me so long which is because my father is very ill and its been going on since last November which is why I haven't had much time.. And I will leave that there. Im sure you can all guess.
Anyway.
I had a bit of time today and realised that I haven't made the trussrod cover yet... Which I nearly always make myself as I always have offcuts and I think its a nice touch when they are made from wood and I try to use as much as possible.
So I get a bit of the Korina that I have left over and cut a bit out the appropriate size
http://i.imgur.com/3cLMCOs.jpg
And I know this may look silly but this is how I often flatten small bits of wood and also use it to carve the sides. But it works for me until I can maybe one day get some proper bench tools

Sorted

http://i.imgur.com/F5QjSxq.jpg
Then drill some holes

Countersink the holes

And oiled

So... well I still hope to get this finished fairly soon but as mentioned my schedule at the moment is unpredictable to say the least. More soon.

Sorry to hear of your troubles - best of luck.
Cheers man... And yeah I fully intend to finish this... Its just come at such a sad time.. I was so happy with this guitar that I was even tempted to keep this build for myself... But now it kind of annoys me as I associate it with bad stuff...
Thus is life.

Cheers man... I appreciate that im not the only one going through this... Indeed I cant seem to escape it.... Even my next door neighbour who I was just talking too is going through the same thing.
The problem is that my workshop is my parents garage and my old bedroom.. So its hard for me to actually get away from it.. But what can you do? All you can do is be there for them and I will be (cos my mums not doing too well either)...
Anyway... enough of that... I am actually hoping to go finish this on Monday.. Maybe even Sunday if I can get a few hours to solder it all and set it up.. That's all that's left now.

So there we go....
And just for you guys I did a quick demo... Its done through a shitty practice amp and recorded on my phone so don't expect it to sound too good... But I just wanted to get this up... I will do a proper full demo soon.. And for people who thought the sympathetic vibration thing was going to be an issue, I don't think its a problem... Have a listen and see what you think (you are the first guys in the world to hear this)
