That crunching sound you get when scoring glass with a wheel cutter.... ughhhh !  If the skin on my hands is rough and dry, I can't stand the feel of my own hands - I end up holding them, fingers apart (so they can't touch) whilst I'm searching for some hand cream.  Thinking about it, my mum felt the same way about rough surfaces - leaned behaviour is a hell of a thing.

I've got a toothbrush with some rubbery soft bits that go down the outsides of the bristles. I f*ckin' hate it when the rubbery bits squeak against my teeth...

Never really got the cotton wool thing, but the thought of a totally bone dry sponge scraping against me - like my arm or my back - makes my skin crawl. Horrible.

Also people mushing up broccoli in gravy. Fucking horrific.

Same here. When I did shelf stacking in the chilled section my hands wide get so dry. The cardboard boxes would absorb all my skin oils and the cold would stop them sweating. It was horrible. Just thinking about it made me moisturise my hands

I hate the thought of ice being chewed.

My wife's the weird one - she has an aversion to holes, like anything with lots of holes grouped closely together.

My daughter can't sleep without socks as she can't touch the sheets with her feet.

And I have a mild phobia of buttons. Since I was a kid. No cardigans for me
I can relate to that.  I can deal with the fact that I have to wear a shirt for work, or that jeans have buttons, but I'd never choose to wear a "smart casual" shirt, or polo shirt, or cardigan.  There's something about the look of buttons which is really repellent, especially those shiny pearly/semi-translucent ones.

i chew ice but other two i can relate to.

the holes-close-together thing always reminds me of apples, etc (or rotten flesh!) that have been eaten from the inside out but just have a few maggot or wasp holes on the outside. so when you pick it up it collapses into itself & squishes, & when you cut into it it's full of maggots, wasps & rot.
that's probably the valid basic elementary evolutionary fear behind that one:
if it isn't in tact, don't eat it. or you will end up full of maggots & rot.

socks, winter always. summer unless it is murderously hot. feet very sensitive. lots of nerve endings.
hofner hussie & hayman harpie. what she said...

What's the chemistry with cottonwool though, why is it so common, can you explain it, can I understand it, will people protest about it, or will it be one of those things that just gets brushed under the carpet again?.

  • Shoes shuffling on short carpet. Dunno if it's all shoes but Ugg style ones hurt my fillings.

And metal cutlery scraping across a plate to scratch up the last smears of sauce. It's like a fury button.
