I personally prefer belt loops and a belt.
I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
I actually think you might be on to something.
Of course, if you're facing a pig of a day go belt, braces and sock suspenders.
As for braces, 3 words kids - Rod, Jane, Freddy.
I've yet to find a reason for braces

The only time I wear braces is on motorcycle tours with a textile suit.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone else use it, but he uses it regularly.
I use it occasionally, I don't recall at one else using it.

Most chaps these days prefer to wear belts because they think of braces as old-fashioned and stuffy. Most young guys also like to wear their trousers on their hips, rather than their waist, which is not conducive to braces. That's fair enough, but there are two instances where I think belts look terrible - on dinner suits, which are not supposed to be visually cut in half by a belt buckle, and under a waistcoat, where the belt buckle both peeps out from under the cloth and causes the waistcoat to protrude around the waist.
That flashed up warning images of Timmy Mallet and Peter Powell for some reason, even though I have been totally unable to find a picture of either of them so-attired!
I have to concur though, braces with a suit are great
