Clock watching while at work

What's Hot

When I started out working in my first office job at the age of 21, I quickly realised that 'workers' pretty much clock watched and wished the hours away. I used to wonder why the Managers didn't seem to and always seemed busy and engaged.

Wind forward, I'm 50 this year, a Manager in a office...but I clock watch a lot and wish the hours away. Were the Manager's back then more motivated or were they better at hiding it?

Do you clock watch while at work?

Don't really have time to clock watch. Days hardly ever drag, which is a good thing I suppose.

  • You're in the wrong job in my opinion. Get out and find something more enjoyable. I dont care how much money you are getting, that is a shitty way to spend your life.

I don't really understand what a clock watch is.

I go in on Sunday night or Monday morning and all I'm thinking of is the following weekend.I know at forty six I shouldn't be wishing my time away but that's how it is. Don't really clock watch because we're so busy most if the time that it seems that there's not enough hours in the day.

I long ago found that clock watching is boring, secret internet tabs are a better way to while away the hours. And here I am!

  • Never, if I've nothing to do I do some audio typing for other people in the office.

  • I clockwatch when I'm quiet which is about 10 days a year usually. The rest of the time I'm wishing I had more hours to get all the work done.

  • Well at least I didn't post about "cock watching"

That's a whole other very inappropriate thread that would result in a ban  B)

There's a few times when having a sneaky look on the fretboard at work could be considered 'cock watching'

I just assumed clock-watching diminished as you got older.
When I started work at 16 every day felt like a month.  I spent most of the time reading a book hidden in my top drawer or doodling or writing bloody awful poetry.

    Now...er where am I...

Too busy solving difficult problems to clock watch. Most days are race against time to get things done. I could do with more downtime tbh
