Pleased to have helped @RocknRollDave, gives the old pedal a new lease of life  :)

Haven't watched this yet, but he explains guitar and gear set-ups, it is pretty much Hot Licks video as normal, so with that in mind, have a blast through it if you want...

Oh, and fuck me, I bet that's loud in the studio...

Just heard Robin Trower's wife passed-away a couple days ago (after a long illness).

"On February 4th 2014, after a long illness, my wife passed away.
    Robin"

Thoughts with Robin and his family.

I thought to myself - "while we are doing this, as a tribute, why not put up some more Robin Trower material"
    So here goes

For Earth Below 1975 Full Album

Caravan To Midnight 1978 Full Album
(has that "I suppose we ought to do a bit of funk / disco" late 70s thing)

Twice Removed From Yesterday - 73

Back it Up 1983 Full Album

    In City Dreams Full Album

And a live performance for good measure

    Robin Trower - Live - Winterland Ballroom - MARCH 15, 1975

edited to try and fix YT links (for a while at least)

I never bought any of his albums back in the day (before CD's) but I bought Roots & Branches and it is excellent. I have youtubed his back catalog recently and really love Caravan to midnight.
    Don't touch that dial.

If you're gonna get a vibe, the Sweetsound MojoVibe is pretty much held to be the best one; for a bit less money the soulvibe and the Voodoolabs Micro Vibe both excellent.

A Lex will do this as well.

The Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe is the best I've heard, but it's expensive and huge.

  • Voodoo Vibe - does a lot more besides, but for that reason (and the size) more IMO a studio than a pedalboard item.  But then I don't like too much choice and fiddling.  Give me a one or two-trick pony anyday. Even 2-channel amps are OTT for me.

Also takes a lot of fiddling with.

Actually the best I've heard is the Mobius when set onto the Timeline delay trails.

We have been talking a fair bit about vibes recently, so it seemed appropriate to continue the conversation.

  • OK then, another question about this:

What exactly is this Uni-Vibe sound ?

If you don't have a uni-vibe type pedal, can you recreate it ?
How can you get close using other pedals ?
That's assuming that most folks have one or more modulation pedals around anyway.

What pedals work for this, and what settings ?

One pedal or a couple in tandem ?

What a shame so many of the videos have been taken down.  I have been back through this a couple of times and found new content, but it keeps on happening, boo.

My belief is that they are good educational content in the context of a forum discussion like this, and they are also very good promotion for the artist both in reminding many of us of his catalogue, and in bring in new listeners who may not have experienced his material before.

It strikes me that there is often an over zealous use of copyright to the detriment of dissemination of great material, education, and the promotion of awareness of the artist.  Increased public awareness can only help an artist's career IMHO, the more enlightened copyright controllers have discovered that too, shame about the rest.

  • A chorus pedal can come close, but not quite.

BTW, I've got a Cool Cat Vibe for sale. PM me if interested. It's fallen to 4th in the hierarchy [1] so I guess I won't ever use it.

TC announced a new Vibe pedal at Namm so I'm excited about that!

But if I had the money I'd be all over a Drybell Vibe Machine!

It's a 4-stage phaser, iirc. You get close with a regular phaser, or some choruses but nothing is quite like a proper one. I have the MXR one, which isn't the full 100% thing you get with the photovoltaic circuit, but it's 95% of the way there for 25% of the money and actually fits on a real-world pedalboard :)

  • I have a Fulltone Deja Vibe which will do the job perfectly. The best I've heard via online demos is the Drybell Vibe Machine as mentioned by fretmeister.

That said Lovepedal have just bought out the Vibronaut which looks pretty cool.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the Neo-Ventilator.......so I will. If I didn't have the Deja2 I'd be all over it. Not cheap.
