    For me it's the Antikythera Mechanism: an ancient analogue computer and Orrery used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses for calendrical and astrological purposes (to quote Wiki!). Sadly it was destroyed in a shipwreck, although science has determined what it looked like and how it worked. Considering that it is believed to have been made around 100-150BC it was an incredible feat of engineering and science.

    Spot on mate. I grew up just outside of Hartlepool and often saw them pulling coal trucks from Blackhall Colliery. They were a proper 'muscle' train!
