And the never ending Robinson Crusoe from 1964 ...

Great theme song though. Much worse were those really weird Eastern European fairytale things.

Dont know if I had a favourite, Worzel Gummidge was quite cool.
    Blue Peter was always shit though. I think it was Nick Hancock who described it as ;
"Get home from school, put the TV on....MORE SCHOOL"

Not that I watched Blue Peter much but surely worse was Grange Hill. The concept of coming back from school to watch a programme set in a school just seemed truly awful to me. It may have been brilliant but I took agin it on principle and I've never seen an episode.
I know what you  mean I never really liked Blue Peter, but Grange Hill used to be good and quite funny. Surely the worst was Play School, absolutely dire program, but great comedy value for taking the mick out of the presenters. Watch the first minute or so of this, absolutely ridiculous:

I refuse to even watch that clip on the grounds that you dare to use the word "dire" in association with something featuring the mighty, legendary Derek Griffiths. Even a 10 hour TV marathon of paint drying would be essential viewing if Derek Griffiths was providing the songs to accompany it.

He's not in the bit I'm talking about. "First minute or so..."

Also skip to 7:05 for the worst ever game of 'name that tune'.

Sorry but got to disagree - The Singing Ringing Tree was one of the most interesting things I watched as a child.

The Singing Ringing Tree was awesome.  I keep meaning to buy it on Blu-ray.  And Three Wishes For Cinderella.

I loved Robinson Crusoe but I don't think I ever saw the end, maybe we always went back to school early.

Anyone mentioned Noggin the Nog?  White Horses, Whirlybirds, Casey Jones, Champion the Wonder Horse, Daktari, Belle and Sebastian. Screen Test, Clapperboard.  The Tomorrow People.  The Double Deckers.  So much good stuff.

Scooby Doo was the thing to watch as far as I was concerned.   Mr Benn was cool, too.  Then I progressed to Grange Hill which I loved - those early characters like Benny Green, Tucker etc were so easy to identify with.

The Blue Peter issue is a difficult one for me as my Mum worked for them for years, infact @EricTheWeary it was almost certainly my Mum that sent your friend letters, badges and autographs....
I used to get invited to all the end of season parties and thus got to meet all the presenters and some of the guests, too.... Even got to ride on Rags, the Blue Peter pony - my claim to fame is that Princess Anne's arse was the last one in the saddle before mine.
However, I can see that on the whole, to most kids, Blue Peter was middle class crap.

Moving on, as a teenager, it was all about The Young Ones, which is about the only programme that I loved that my kids also got into.  Infact, I've not seen my boxed set for years because both boys would watch it constantly.

Best theme tune was this, which I always found really spooky...

As a kid I was privileged enough to have a second hand striker with pedal back brakes and then I bought a Mongoose off a kid at school with money I made from selling comics so between that and being outdoors all the time I didn't ever have to watch that much TV.  Also used to have loads of tantrums and destroy everything if I was contained for more than five minutes or was forced into having a monthly wash so my mum used to lock me out of the house all night.  Bikes equaled freedom.  The Emmerdale Farm themetune on a Sunday night at bedtime before school equaled oppression, depression, chasity and insanity.
