"Much worse were those really weird Eastern European fairytale things."

Sorry but got to disagree - The Singing Ringing Tree was one of the most interesting things I watched as a child.
They scared the crap out of me as a kid, they were so surreal. I vaguely remember one where a soldier had to go down a well and met a dog with enormous eyes, that gave me nightmares!

Yes! I've never worn a jumpsuit in my life because of that.

Scooby Doo was the thing to watch as far as I was concerned.   Mr Benn was cool, too.  Then I progressed to Grange Hill which I loved - those early characters like Benny Green, Tucker etc were so easy to identify with.

The Blue Peter issue is a difficult one for me as my Mum worked for them for years, infact @EricTheWeary it was almost certainly my Mum that sent your friend letters, badges and autographs....
I used to get invited to all the end of season parties and thus got to meet all the presenters and some of the guests, too.... Even got to ride on Rags, the Blue Peter pony - my claim to fame is that Princess Anne's arse was the last one in the saddle before mine.
However, I can see that on the whole, to most kids, Blue Peter was middle class crap.

Moving on, as a teenager, it was all about The Young Ones, which is about the only programme that I loved that my kids also got into.  Infact, I've not seen my boxed set for years because both boys would watch it constantly.

Best theme tune was this, which I always found really spooky...

Only recently discovered that the music for the Tomorrow People was by White Noise. It explains a lot (well, a bit anyway).

There was one episode of the Tomorrow People that had something to do with Egyptian gods, and the dog-faced ones scared the shit out of me.  Me and my mate used to run around the street and 'Jaunt' by pressing invisible buttons on our invisible belts.

Still...  from a totty POV, you can't beat UFO...

    Anyone remember Lizzie Dripping (Oooeer)

Played by Tina Heath (who was about 20 at the time), her faces between 19:26 and 19:38 are hilarious.

Some of these were a bit creepy.

    I feel old now.

A few I remember from my pre secondary school days
    • Roberts Robot
    • Rogue's Rock
    • A Handful of Songs
The theme tune to which went something like this:

We've got a handful of songs to sing you
Old songs, new songs and songs to bring you
    Happiness, no more, no less

As a teenager I loved Willo' the Wisp - hilariously narrated by Kenneth Williams

Mrs R has a huge collection of Robert Harrop Camberwick Green figurines and we have the whole set of Camberwick Green, Trumptonand Chigley on DVD to boot.

LOL - I didn't realise it was an actual program!  I've heard the name used as a pejorative term but not for a long time.

I only remembered it due to the fact it had to be on the Telly because my Sister liked it. It usually ended up with me trying to spoil it for her by talking through it or being a general distraction. I would then get a clip round the ear from me Dad :)
