I find it odd that guitarists will spend £4000 grand on a boutique guitar but not £2-£3000 on a boutique amp.

My friends had a few Friedmans and Diezels and they sound fine at home volume.

My JVM was ok aswell.

Yup, they really do. They still however have delays and reverbs sounding incredibly high in the mix at home volume though.

Just been checking out the Mini Dirty Shirley and PT-20 heads... sound fantastic! And they're hand-wired to boot.
The Runt is dual-channel switchable? Very interesting......

EDIT - not hand-wired (unlike the Mini Dirty Shirley and PT-20 which I think are).

Agreed, though if it blows it's harder to fix. Anyway, I keep reading online (I know...) that Friedman's have a sweet spot and aren't as suited to bedroom levels. Might be bollocks..

Most high powered amps do, but from my Friedman experience so far, they sound great at any volume. Just that much greater when they're flapping your kegs.

Even with master volume (and if you use an attenuator ??) your valves are still cooking. That's why I like the idea of power scaling - same transfer curves but reduced power consumption for longer life. Let me know if I'm talking tosh

So I'm still wanting a Friedman and the more I read on the Runt the more I'm tempted, I was planning on a DS or PT but the XLR out on the Runt is tempting me over the hand built selling point.

I just use my ears and don't really care if I have to replace the valves a little bit sooner than normal.
