DS1, suhr riot, triple wreck,
Mobius
(I do 'get the Timeline' though)
*An Official Foo-Approved guitarist since Sept 2023.
But when playing in a band it was a different story, it was spot on. So I half didn't get it, half did.
The Xotic mini pedals - both the SL drive and SP compressor.
Sounded very poor, and inexcusable to have so much functionality on dip switches
TS-9 (its just a evil mid boost with a shit overdrive signal - ghastly)
Boss Chorus (time and a place, and that time was the 1980s and the place was a long way away)
Boss Analog Delay (over-rated tripe - I remember ditching mine when digital delays became cheaper/more available. Then the hype started so I bought another to see if I'd got it wrong. I hadn't - there's better thats *much* cheaper)
Big Box EHX Memory Man (spent a fortune buying a *real* one, and it was noisy, so got it checked over/fixed - still shit and noisy, and told "thats the way they are". So bought another, just in case... identical. There are better versions of that sound available)
Crybaby Wah ( I've owned several and they sound great with the gain up, but with lower gain sounds they are harsh, angry and noisy. In desperation I tried the 535Q... and got confused by too many options, so went back to my ancient Vox and was a much happier bunny)
Yeah, I love them. I love the *sound* of a compressed tone. I love the squishy, snappy tone of a strat through a dyna comp - classic for funk.
I love the huge amounts of squish and sustain from a cs3.
I love the subtle, blended comp from a more modern design (a la xotic).
But I HATE how everything "feels" when I'm using one. It's an endless cycle. I'll buy one and love the sound, but get pissed off with the feel. I'll sell it having settled on a simple boost for a nice, slight compression from the amp. I'll get bored and want squishy snap. I'll hate it. Repeat.
I have a dyna comp on the way.
The net spend is zero as I pick them up unusually cheap... I know I should stick with it but it's not even arrived and I've started dreading it.
And yet, I can totally nail some old school funk!
