Lots of love here for spam fritters.  Am I the only one who remembers them as retch-inducing filth?

No. My mum served them once. It still gets mentioned.

The way my auntie used to live on frozen beef mince and processed peas.

School canteens bring me right back to the 1980s and shitty food loaded with additives and preservatives. I'm allergic to a lot of them. Off school for a long time, got better. First day back, sausage pie on the menu. Ten minutes later, I've projectile vomited it all over the school hall floor. Clean up on aisle 3 to 6 material.

Those wanky 5" Diameter Pizzas that you shoved under the grill or the Findus French Bread Pizzas. It was the early 80's, Lol, as if that was a "proper" Pizza.
I shared a house as a student with a girl who once cooked a couple of those under the grill. She flipped them over half way through and couldn't understand why they stuck to the grill in a horrible mess of melted cheese.

You may laugh, but she's now somebody's wife and I still live on my own.

I remember when we got our first microwave, which came with a recipe book for this new-fangled futuristic way of cooking. My sister, who was about 13 at the time, offered to cook my dad a beefburger. It will only take a couple of minutes! She took a frozen beefburger from the freezer, placed in the microwave on a piece of kitchen paper and set the timer...

Ping! It came out the size of a 2p piece and a very dark shade of brown. She'd followed the recipe (and timing) for 4 beefburgers...

Believe me, you're better off on your own @thermionic she'll still be trying to do Cheese on Toast in the Toaster. I dread to think how she did Jacket Potato. Scraping charred Leather out of an Oven can't be fun :)

Where did you get the Crispy Pancakes - I've been trying to find them. No, seriously I have. I loved them when I was a kid.
    Other naff foods?
    Bernard M's Turkey roasts.
    Grated Parmesan in a tub.
    Lemon Meringue pie.
    Arctic roll.

    Jam and bread.

    Every day.

See me running home from school, in wee-stained short trousers, blazer 2 sizes too big ("You'll grow into it"), shouting "What's for tea, Mum?"

    "Jam and bread".

    Again.

With an occasional Penguin biscuit for afters.

    Happy Days!!!
