I borrowed the CD from a friend and forced myself to listen to is many times. I came to the conclusion that whatever genius it was purported to contain - it would never manifest itself to me....
I like Radiohead but not in a rabid fanboi way. I'm good with nearly everything from the Bends up to In Rainbows, haven't heard anything past that as they were getting a bit samey
And I say that as someone who enjoys radiohead, but doesn't really listen to them that often.
It took me several listens to get it (I wanted The Bends Vol 2, partly because I was late to the party with that record and hadn't had time to want something different), and not all of it is as effective now as it was in 1997, but it's a bloody good record.
It suffers a bit from what I think puts people who weren't alive in the 60s off the Beatles- it was so influential on the sound of alternative rock for those few years that if you weren't there at the time it sounds like a load of stuff you've heard before, but only because everyone was trying to sound like Radiohead.
IMO the place where reluctantly commercial alternative rock Radiohead and wilfully head-up-arse electronic experimental Radiohead meet, and sound best.
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
I've never liked Dark Side Of The Moon either, but I love OK Computer. In fact, I still think it is one of the best albums ever made.
It is one area where everyone's mileage will always vary A LOT!

Music, eh? So many people, so many opinions. Long may it continue!
