Ive checked the depth of the slot compared to a couple of other guitars, it is quite high compared to those, I'll run a file through it again and try @Corvus 's suggestion of sloping it down a touch at the head end.

If it had been the bridge at fault you'd have buzz every note, so as it was only open then the nut is to blame as you found out.

Once level, I masked around the frets with 3M tape, used a Crimson fret file, followed by 1200 wet and dry, 0000 wire wool and a Crimson polishing rubber. The frets came out nice and shiny. Not a professional job, but the best one I've done so far.

It lives!! Sounds great too. Tiny bit of tweaking to do to the setup, then proper photos and NGD post at the weekend. Very happy
