Thought as I was reading it that it would make a cracking film or 6 episode TV series, and just googled and found out that apparently Jamie Foxx's production company have bought the rights to make a TV show, so hopefully that comes to fruition in the next couple of years!
Very interesting subject but this book skimps a bit on detail and content. Many years ago I read a book called 'Not in front of the Servants', which was a study of life below stairs in big houses. NIFOTS went into far greater detail about things like the servants duties and what was expected from them and was a better read.
Still if if you have not read any books on this subject, Wise Words & Country House Ways is a good introduction to a way of life that has gone for good. At least you will understand the going ons in Downton Abbey a bit better...
Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
It was recommended by a guy at work and the tale of him living on a half sunken barge in Kingston sold it to me.
This hardback edition.
I've now read Dracula.
I've been reading it on and off since March or April.
highly recommended if you haven't discovered the author yet. RIP Mark Fisher 1968-2017.

It does seem quite brief. Varoufakis is usually quite convincing.
I'm reading this now.
In Croydon, last time I was passing through Waterstones, I see them selling posters of this cover.
Just a random thing I like about the read.
Rocket Boys by Homer Hickam (I just found out it was made into a movie "October Sky")
and
the Newtonian Casino by Thomas A Bass. I've had that for about 30 years, yellow pages.
Both inspiring true stories of young people doing sciencey things. Must say something about me!
It’s rather good.
Now We Are Dead by Stuart McBride.
A Spin off from the Logan McRae novels,it gives McRae's boss Roberta Steel top billing and it's all the better for it.A total romp and and absolute blast from start to finish and laugh out loud funny.
Highly recommended.

It's one of the few Dickens books which I've never seen adapted for film or TV and I had no prior knowledge of the plot. Really enjoying it, I love his characters and the humour in his writing.
Don’t know if you’ve seen but the new LM book is due out mid June and apparently he’s joining Professional Standards!!
