The Holloway v Ortega could be interesting, I don't like Ortega' s chances on the feet against Max and he's so hard to take down. I hope it's a good one but I can't see past Holloway.
Last 2 weeks of BJJ has been hard, hard work. Movement is restricted, strength is not 100% by any means.
But, it definitely has not hurt. I feel like the adrenaline has helped the healing.
Also the grind of being limited and weakened in combat is, paradoxically, liberating.
Can't wait to get back to full fitness though.
cross collar chokes are a no go but it’s helped my paper cutter game.
Felt fully fit for the first time in a few weeks, focussed on movement rather than positions and it mostly went well.
Tapped a +115kg monster with a firmly placed armbar. Rolled with a couple really good blue belts and my black belt instructor. Five 5 minutes rounds. Did ok.
Also rolled with a newby white belt who's been at it for a month or so. Always interesting to remind yourself how far you've come when rolling with a new guy.
Absolutely shagged this afternoon. Glass of wine much needed with dinner.
I LOVE morning classes, my usual session is 0645-0830ish. I get a shower at work & feel great (if a bit tired) for the rest of the day.
My cardio needs working on and it seems I’ve lost the ability to pass or retain guard. Spent most of the night defending bow and arrow chokes.
I'm feeling sore from my first class yesterday. And looking forward to my next class tomorrow.
Play the long game!
As I mentioned in the "cracked ribs" thread I've started Judo!
I'm only a couple of classes in but it seems good. Bloody hard work though!
I've only done O-Goshi & ukemi thus far, plus a bit of gentle randori.
Only downsides-
My hands were sore after the first class, but I'm told that'll improve.
I'm not used to the Gi (I've always done no-Gi)- it's heavy, sweaty & feels restrictive.
The finger soreness is something you just have to get along with when it comes to the Gi. Be careful what grips to utilise though, the older you get the easier it is to mess up your hands.
It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.... especially when it was a green belt that broke my ribs (I'm a white belt - you'd expect it to be the other way around).
