On y our website, how come the sonic blue has 2 shades? or is that the colour how it comes out the can on the left and how it ages on the right?
Amber tint cellulose for the neck (I have some fretboard conditioner from PRS I can clean the board with)
Sand it down to smooth, apply 2 layers of primer, then 3 layers of Sonic blue then the clear satin cellulose lacquer on top.
When it's all dried using the highest grit sandpaper to smooth down the neck a little.
I think I might double up on the sandpaper, not sure that will be enough.
Do you think so? I thought Daphne Blue is a little too dark.
For the body, sand the wood meticulously before you start. Then spray a coat of primer, leave to harden (overnight) and flat back. This will show all the imperfections. If these are minor, spray more primer and repeat. Any holes need filling though before you continue. Don't spray colour until your primer layer is super smooth.
I was purposely trying to go for a satin feel, would I still need to spray the tint gloss over the amber tint cellulose layer ? and could you link me to the tint gloss?
Thanks
I had issues with bloom last time I sprayed a body, so worth checking the humidity in the area you are spraying.
You probably want 40% or less.
Worked out pretty good in the end but I wouldn't call it simple. You need a respirator and bear in mind nitro shows everything and fills nothing, so go overboard on he prep.
The Silver Tele in the thread below, I kept the neck pretty bare, woodstain with a single coat of Tru oil. That's finished in Inca Silver Nitro. The other Swamp ash one is all tru oil.

I would wait for a dry day unless your garage is completely dry and sealed. If you get bloom however, it's not the end of the world, the final coat on mine removed it.
Also, where I can get a decal made? I want to design and make my own. Would the tint lacquer seal it in and stop it moving?

You can also use the old Fender nail feet method.

Yes you can spray over with lacquer https://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/2013/03/13/spraying-the-neck/

I have ordered some sandpaper elsewhere so I can start sanding prep between now and then.
p.s. the nail in the screw holes to elevate it is dead clever!
Been reading some more, I think may be Tru Oil Gun stock on the neck and headstock would be the simplest way to do the neck without a lot of masking tape over the fretboard.
