I don't generally like the sound of slide guitar at all to be honest. Having said that, I have seen Eric (Sardinas?) twice supporting Vai and he was very entertaining.

as someone who can't play good slide, but loves it when it's done well, you'll be hard placed to find someone who can do it better than Robbie McIntosh, not only a great slide player, but he knows how to write the slide parts, some so subtle you don't know they are there, others so in your face and attention grabbing its untrue.

@EricTheWeary have a wisdom for bullfrog blues, it's so cool. As a teenager I used to occasionally play with an old-guy blues band and that was one of their numbers which really rocked. it was a few years later that I saw a video of Rory playing it live which took that song to a whole new level of kick-ass-ness.

If you're after something current, then this is one of my all time favourite slide songs (Cardboard King by Martin Harley):

Stumbled across him by accident a few years ago - think he's done stints with The Allman Bros - serious musician. Well worth checking out the 5 'Performance & Style' videos he did for Gibson, the one I posted being one of them.

This is Lowell George explaining how it's done...very interesting....the German bits, punctuated with words like 'socket wrench' and 'bottleneck' amuseed me greatly

He was a truly great player - the demos he does in this are so 'off the cuff' - you can tell it was just effortless to him. That's the mark of someone who's really mastered their instrument, to me.

    Thanks for posting the clip.
