Yeah... You may have LOL'd it, but I guarantee there would have been a backlash of outrage calling for my head on a pike.  Picture it like this;  You know that scene in the first Lord of the Rings film where they are in the Mines of Moria and Pippin knocks the bucket down the well...

Me saying "illegal immigrants" is that bucket and the forum is the great hall where all the orcs emerge from.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

Nah, this has turned into an innocuous thread now. Nobody would notice your illegal immigrant bucket.. @capo4th is now the forum pariah apparently. Did you not get the memo?

Don't you believe it...  Capo may be their current focus but they will tire of him soon, then the Eye of Sauron will turn again to the West and I will need to keep my ring secret and safe.

Sorry @Emp_Fab not trying to knock you off your perch.

Although being chased with pitchforks can sometimes be amusing especially after a bottle of wine.

No, but given the location of the concert, he was probably Argentinian....

One night without beer. Woohoo! I was tempted too, my daughter had a meltdown in the car and couldn't go to her dance class because her best friend was late turning up (long story, anxiety issues and we don't think she's taking the piss). By the time we got back home I was frazzled, but I was somewhat relaxed by the fact I wasn't on food detail again and I knew if I had a beer too late that my stomach would complain.

My wife may become an illegal immigrant in a couple of years.

Yes, actually !  That's very helpful.

I sometimes wonder if I'm a bit aspergery, as I don't automatically get it that some folk don't find ranting and complaining all that entertaining.  I think it's enormous fun and very cathartic !  I've just always assumed that it's as much fun to read my ranty posts as it is for me to write them.

I think this is a key point.

It's much more fun to write a big ranty whinge post than it is to write it.

It's the equivalent of a big freeform wigout jam on guitar. Sometimes people don't understand that it might be fun to play, but not fun to listen to.

So you're saying that every time Emp posts a ranty thread we should fill it with awful jam session videos from t'Tube?

Well so far, my "not drinking during the week" has gone really well:

    Monday - dry
Tuesday - went to the pub (it was sunny) - one pint of ale (4%). Came home, two bottles of 5% beer
Wednesday - it was hot, so had 4 bottles of anchor steam beer (4.8%) and a glass and a half (large) of white wine.
Thursday - had a bad head in the morning, missed the gym. Funny that. Dry day
Tonight - shall be in the pub by 8sh. Probably have 4 or 5 pints
Tomorrow - probably the same. Potentially champagne involved in the afternoon (likely only one glass though)
Sunday - probably 3 or 4 bottles or beer.

Next week will be a dry week except maybe Wednesday when I am in Big London, and can't resist a beer in some nice boozer like the Princess Louise in Holborn (is this London's best boozer?? Perhaps)

I am very misanthropic - I'm deeply suspiciious of people, their motives, their real feelings and I think that basically, most (not all) people are sneaky, selfish dicks.

If you launch attacks on humanity it is unlikely that humanity will love you for it.

And, from what I can tell, some people do like rants. I don't myself. I think that they are toxic and small minded. The entire ShitBoilPiss thread is, to me, a litany of situations that people have failed to rise above or, even worse, haven't even tried.

I'll drink on my own, because sometimes I just fancy it. Not get pissed obviously, but it's no different from having a nice cream cake to me. I don't do it often nowadays admittedly and reserve it more for nights out.

Don't drink wine other than with food in the right setting though. Like others I like BEER.
