If you type a colon it displays a pop up list and the thumbs up is one of the first ones, failing that type ": + 1 :" but without the spaces or quote marks.

If you accidentally hide a category (in this case Bass) how can you reinstall it? Thanks

On a full size device.

Go to home page (click logo, top left).
See all the categories listed.
Hover over any of the category headings and a black cogwheel icon pops up.
Click that and there's an option to hide, or unhide, individual  categories.

I'm new here, and I assumed that "Frets" was the same as number of posts, yet my frets are still at zero, despite having posted twice. Would some kind person have the time to explain?

Hi @BobHillman "Frets" here are things you acquire when people (a) learn something from you, (b) are amazed by something you said, or (c) laugh at you. 

They can click  "Wisdom" under your post if they learned something new (in practice, often also just if they happen to agree with you about something). This is known as a "wiz". 

They can click the "Wow" button, which is self-explanatory.

Or they can click the "LOL" button  if you made them laugh. (Sometimes - not so often - people click LOL because they  strongly disagree with you and think you said something wrong. This tends to be frowned upon as, carried to extremes, it can become a bit nasty.)

I suspect that most newcomers don't know what frets are - I didn't - so I have wizzed you for asking a sensible question.
