No-one's yet mentioned underwear. Don't any of you wear pants and socks?

Iron Rangers- I have 2 pairs of them already in tan and brown. Finally have a black pair- they are great casual but not too casual boots that can double as motorcycle boots.

Shorts and whatever from May until about October and then shorts and whatever from November until about April. Gloves and a hat if it gets nippy.

I meant proper underwear, not your frilly lingerie.

Anyway, you can't really expect me to read all this tosh?

Nothing improper about frilly undies. After all, don't you still get all yours from www.manties.net ?

If you do get a pair then treat them with mink oil every 3 months.

My favourite ones are the 8083 Muleskinners.

My first pair of made-to-measure work trousers arrived on Friday.

    I look fabulous in them.

There are worryingly frequent references to Chinos in this thread :-/
I don't even know what they are, except that they were mentioned in a song after americanos, which I know to be a coffee style, and blue jeans.

I think a thread where @Snap dressed me for work might be fun, but I think security might chuck me out as an impostor behaving suspiciously, as they've got quite used to me over the years.
LMAO! I'm up for it, as long as you call me Gok Snap Wan.

    I unapologetically love clothes.

for those slating chinos off - there's nothing wrong with them. They bridge the gap between jeans and trousers. As long as they are slim fitting, and the right length and the right colour, they are a good thing to have. I've got a few - stone, pale grey, dark grey, khaki, and dark blue - skinny fitting and slim fitting. Fine with a shirt and shoes for work, fine with a natty pair of white trainers and t shirt for anything else.

Ties - I'm a big fan of a well cut suit, shirt and tie, but I've noticed over the years that most if not all of my clients now dress casually. In a suit and tie I've started to feel increasingly out of place, so it is with reluctance I may have to consider retiring the suit & tie ensemble.

I'm currently going through a plain t shirt fetish phase - getting nicely made plain white t shirts. I thik I am developing a new problem. There is this site, Son of A Tailor, which does made to measure white t shirts for £45. So, under the encouragement of my good friends IPA and Pale Ale, I gets on this site one evening and ordered one. They've got all this stuff to get your perfect fit and that.It took about 3 weeks to be made. The big day arrived, and my made to measure white t shirt comes, all the way from Scandinavia. Much excitement is being had. Guess what? My 10 quid t shirt from Uniqlo fits better. Gutted and miffed!

  • Completely depend on the client - often choose to wear suit when on client site, but have currently sitting in my current client in jeans and a t-shirt as I would look a plum with a suit on. I refuse to wear ties, and have turned down work where I would have had to

Ah ok. I know of them. They do seem to have done well. I guess they have the address, and affordable prices, so they will attract clientele.

Do do you know where their suits are made? For the price I would presume India or the Far East.

Top quality cloth, cut in the shops, assembled in their own factory in India, finished in the shops. Adjustments on-site. (they've got City, Savile Row and Waterloo shops)

Sure. They seem to have taken a high end approach to the cheaper way to do things. I've never actually seen any of their tailoring but I'd be intrigued.

    Good luck to them

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I work in an agency in London, so when I'm in the office it's normally jeans and band tour t-shirts....

  • Today I am traveling for work and been on a motorway services. People coming back off holiday by the look of it, a lot with kids ( why aren't they not in school?) but a lot of what look like business travelers. Yeah, hadn't thought about this much for ages but hard to spot a suit: Oxford shirt, chinos, brown shoes ( brogues? that kinda thing).
I felt right out of it in my onesie and bobble hat :anguished:

The interpretation of them never is.  Women can generally wear what the hell they like
