I did look into it. I felt hand engraving was more in the spirit of the originals

although its worth noting I am only using a £20 dremel engraver for this so it was the safest and cheapest route

How's the hollow fan-fret thing coming on? Is it having a rest or did I miss something?

its having a rest. I stained it and didn't like it, so will come back to it when i can be bothered to sand it back and start again

if we go back to the first page you may remember something i showed as a bit of a monstrosity. It was built in my first few years of guitar building where I was just building as much as I could as quickly as possible. I learned to build guitars by building a lot of guitars, and not all of them where pretty

well this was one the pile of stuff i want to rebuild one day. Its some bloody good wood in there so potentially worth saving, although having said that I may change my mind and put it back on the pile for another few years if I get bored

anyway, it was looking like this. neck join was pretty solid and there were enough good points to make it worth doing something with, even if the build was a bit basic

spent half an hour stripping and carving a bevel into it and it now looks like this

I will probably reshape the upper half a bit, but I think there is a potentially funky shape hiding in there
