Get a Henry and then never have to think about buying a VC again.

    I called mine Juskiewicz.

Does it suck in a lot of stuff you didn't want it to, make random changes to your product range for no good reason and then bankrupt you?

Does the 2015 model have an uncomfortably wide, flat hose, a temperamental auto-adjusting power cable and an illegibly-scrawled "Henry" name on the front?

Well, it's either that or a weird meerkat.

Presumably a toaster is somewhere on your to-buy list ...
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Might be a stick with a bristly protrusion on one end and a weird meerkat on the other.

better a weird meerkat than an odd otter or an angry badger.

    Dyson.

Shiny, expensive, unnecessarily complicated, does actually work very well - ideal purchase logic for a guitarist. The one I have - the Big Ball Animal - has a name like a boutique pedal too, so double win.

Sebo X1.1. It practically walks you round the house rather than the other way round. Best we’ve had and we’ve had loads of brands and types.

Dont be put off by the fact that it uses bags. A bag lasts us approx 10 months in a 3 bed house and there’s zero mess in changing them due to the design.

Another Miele fan here. Our last one was 10 years old and still going strong until a builder doing our extension  “borrowed” it to clean up a load of rubble. :p He had to buy us a new one, so we got a Cat and Dog, it’s excellent. The OE bags and filters can be expensive but the pattern ones on Amazon work just as well.

That, right there, is why you need a Henry as well.

If you have a small apartment then a Henry may be a pain to store as its more bulkier than a upright dyson etc and cordless seems to be popular. If you have the space then the Henry is a ace option. Personally ( i do a bit of hoovering) I prefer the upright for I want to break free moments.

Dyson user here for the last 15 years.

Cheapish ~ £199 when on offer.

    5 year warranty.

The customer service is excellent. Should something break one telephone call and a new part is just posted out. Other faults are repaired in your home by their service techs.

  • We use a Dyson v6, it's absolutely perfect. We have the animal attachment to suck up dog and cat fur  cleaning the head is easy (just use a coin to remove the rotating bit) and we've found it utterly reliable.

The previous version we had was less reliable and would overheat - this has not happened once on the new one, which is about a year old now.

Failing that, you can't really go wrong with a Henry or Hettie.

Choosing a domestic vacuum cleaner based on whether it will suck up building rubble or clean acres of shop carpet every day seems like choosing a car based on whether it will carry a load of bricks or tow a trailer with a digger on it. A Transit tipper is certainly tough and will do both better than any car, but it probably isn’t the most useful choice for daily transport. (Unless you’re a professional landscape gardener...)
