    Bargain mate!

    I'm thinking I might change two of the V30's in my Egnater cab for T75's. Nice mix of the two. I really can't squeeze two cabs as much as it does sound awesome! :)

    maybe try running your cab in stereo... like a pair of 2x12 cabs

    up close it'll sound naff and phasey.. so to get a true picture you need to get some distance between you and the cab..

    like 10' or more

    Which would be better/louder - run the Marshall 8008 in mono 4ohms, or stereo 8ohms each side?

    Hmmm at that price I could pick one up to run my gt-10 through as a backup, think I could also potentially use it to drive foldback for our drummer where we bring our own PA or is it far too coloured?

    It's got a linear mode and a valvestate mode. I think the linear mode is supposed to be ... well... linear

    4ohm would be louder

    8ohms would give all the stereo goodness

    so it's "cool" vs "brutality"

    you need to do what we did yesterday.. get yourself into a big studio room and test it at gig volumes.. you'll know what works for you right away...

    my guess... 8ohm should be loud enough

    in a gig in Rome once, the venue only provided me with a single 1960A.. at the time my rig was..

    2120 -> 8008 -> 1960A [in stereo @ 8ohms]

    after I'd had my lil' "diva hissy fit" at being a cab short, I found that instead of running the the 8008 at a little over 1/2 way, I was running at a little over 2/3.. it was more than enough.. and the hissy diva went on to nail a great show...

    the manual says that linear mode is like PA.
    when we switched it to linear it sounded a lot like the Matrix which I guess is not that surprising

    bung the 8008 through a couple of 4x12 cabs and you won't be wanting to let your drummer get near it.. lol..

    :)

    Yup.

    I'd love to have a few of you guys round for tea and biscuits to show you this. Because to me... it's pretty unreal. It just sounds really really really really good.

    I'm feeling a little ill, so took the day off. But couldn't resist plugging the thing in and cranking it up.

    The valvestate and the Axe FX II work really well together. Enable the low-cut in the amp model, turn up the depth control to about 6 or 7. It starts to sound and feel like a valve amp.

    I spent a bit of time comparing the Axe + Valvestate to my Diezel D-Moll, and I really couldn't pick a favourite. There is not a clear winner in terms of tone or performance; they're just slightly different.

    So I'm convinced that there are definitely good tones with this combo, and I'm convinced it would work for me in a live situation. It's the blending, morphing, switching side of things that I am struggling with to an extent. I'm not sure the Behringher FCB1010 is going to do everything I want. If I could re-assign the bank up/bank down switches, it might work much better. But right now... not 100% sure.

    This is a looooooooong path of experimentation, so I don't see my valve amp and pedalboard being obsolete just yet... but perhaps I'll get to a point where I'm comfortable just using the Axe+Valvestate+FCB1010

    ha cool… did you manage to hit that sweet spot we found in the studio through my backline??

    I have to agree… Axe-FX -> 8008 Valvestate is a seriously potent combination..

    Bit of a snag here in that after some exploring, I actually do not rate the Axe FX II's wah models. Can't get them to sound anywhere near as good as my real world budda wah.
