Loving the Custombuckers so far. Possibly the best Gibson PAFs I’ve ever heard. The closest aftermarkets might be Fralin Pure PAFs... but need to play more to say definitely...

It's a 'Faber' Made by Tokai Japan, for the German distributor, got all the bits, fret edge binding, solid top, 1-piece back, it's the Gary Moore model

I really like them, and I hadn’t expected to as I have had a set before in a 2104 Historic. These are way better than that set I had a couple of years ago which I found weak and thin. These are meaty indeed, in both my new guitars.

I have a replica here too with Wizz PAFs in it, which I have been comparing side by side with the R8’s with Custombuckers. My first impressions are that I would not rate the Wizz pickups over these Custombuckers, which says a hell of a lot really. They are different, but equally good.

Don't worry there are a few areas where they've penny pinched, although nothing that can't be addressed.  I'm sure the R8's will be noticeably better.  For 'Sweet Child' down the Dog n Duck it's fool most people though

Here's mine.  It's a 59 rather than a 58.

I've had a couple of plaintop Custom Shop Les Pauls in the past, and there was always that feeling that one day I'd like a 59 with a nice top.  I figured I might as well go that route than get a plaintop and regret not having the one I really wanted - especially as the 58s were only left in the cherry, which I don't really like.

First impressions are very good through studio monitors.  Will play it through a proper amp later.

The neck angle is a lot better than the 2010 R8 I sold at the beginning of the year.  The action is incredibly low.  I'll probably put it up a touch, but it's impressive to get it that low without buzzing.
